August 12, 1930 – June 30, 2024
Tina M. Georgiou, devoted mother of Irene Rovner and husband Robert, Simeon Georgiou and wife Ann, and Archelle Georgiou and husband David Feldshon. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Alexis Rovner, Arielle Feldshon, R.J. Rovner, Michael Georgiou, Alexandra Holt, Athena Hays, Zoe Feldshon and four great grandchildren, Aella, Reese, Lily and Florence. She is survived by two sisters, Pipitsa and Vivian, and a brother Yianni. She was preceded in death by her former husband Michael Georgiou, sister Voula, brothers Christo and Thanos. She has many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tina was born in Zatouna, Greece to Nicholas and Archondoula Papanikolaou (nee Leventis) on August 12, 1930. After spending her youth in the village in the Peloponnese, Tina emigrated to the United States and arrived in Baltimore on October 23, 1951. She lived with her cousins Anna and Louis Christopoulos on Light Street. She worked in a shoe factory. Two years later she met and married Michael Georgiou. They moved to Monastery Ave where she gave birth to daughter Irene and son Simeon. She helped out in her husbands’ business American Cleaners. In 1958 they moved to Church Street where their youngest daughter, Archondoula was born. Tina loved to give parties, many lasting well into the night and many times into the wee hours of the morning. Many in their social circle could attest to impromptu early morning visits to close friends and relatives. Having family and friends to entertain was her joy. Education was important to her. She took classes to become a nurses aid. She was member of the Baltimore Foreign Relations Committee. Cooking was important to her. She loved to have her children join her in tasty meals. Bringing dolmades and crab cakes to her family on the beach at Ocean City is a favorite memory everyone has of her, especially when she would feed you by hand and wouldn’t take no for an answer. As the years progressed, she became very well informed about current events and especially politics and political figures. On her mantle, there were of course pictures of her children and their families, as well as pictures of her favored politicians. As many knew, she followed her politics very closely and always had a well-versed opinion on most subjects. Most of all, she was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
