Victor James Moran Sr., age 77 of Pasadena MD, passed away peacefully in his shore home surrounded by his children and grandchildren on August 12 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born July 15, 1938 to James and Anna Moran (O’Donnell-Davis) in South Baltimore, MD. Victor was an All-American lacrosse player at Southern High School, served and boxed in the US Army, then spent the next 54 years married to Catherine and providing a steady hand for his family and friends. Victor was a dedicated son, husband, father, cousin, uncle, grandfather and friend who will be missed more than he knew. Victor can now rest but his memory will forever bring a smile.
Victor united with Catherine Elizabeth Moran (Kelly) in May 1961 and moved to Pasadena where they made a home, raised a family, spent 40+ years as parishioners of St Jane Frances and Our Lady of the Chesapeake. Victor prided in being chief advisor to many local amateur athletes and the unruly generation x’s under his roof. Victor was a 35 year retiree of Sheet Metal Local 100, apprenticeship school instructor, restauranteur, caterer, contractor and award winning salesman in the mid-Atlantic region. With Catherine, they did everything that two city kids could possibly do to provide a safe, nurturing environment.
Victor loved cruises, family vacations involving 19 hour car rides with no stops or air conditioning, donating his money to many casino endowments, the beach but not sunscreen, holding Cass’s purse while she shopped, bungee slingshot rides in Mexico with Victor Jr, daily lunch with his father in the city, hitting the tough Elvis notes on the karaoke, his shore house that he rehabbed single handedly, fishing and crabbing, a good bunny-hop and walking to the beach with his children then grandchildren. Victor made sure his family never needed or wanted and he took pride knowing that his family grew surrounded by a loving community comprised with some of his childhood friends and family but also new family that he embraced.
Victor is survived by daughter, Donna; Son Eric (Stephanie); grandchildren, Crystal, Justin, Hudson, Colby, and Avery plus numerous nieces and nephews. Victor is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Catherine (5/15) his parents and oldest son, Victor Jr.
A small celebration will be held at a later date with family and friends
