William S. Grahe, of Smyrna, Delaware, beloved husband of the late Margaret L. Johnson, died after a lengthy battle with congestive heart disease and dementia. Born on March 29, 1930 in Baltimore, Mr. Grahe was a Korean War Veteran and served in the Baltimore City Fire Department for almost 40 years retiring as a lieutenant.
William was the son of the late Edward C. and Annie R. Grahe (nee Woody). He was the youngest and last survivor of a large family including brothers Edward, Norman, Robert, Charles and Wilber and sisters Helen Hunt and Edna Hamilton.
Mr. Grahe is survived by his sons, William Kenneth Grahe and his wife Patricia and David Alan Grahe, Sr. and his wife Debra. He has five grandchildren, Alison Grahe Rice, Brian Grahe, Jessica Grahe Johnson, David Grahe, Jr. and Kimberly Grahe Dulin. He also has eleven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Grahe enjoyed bowling and crabbing and was dedicated to the Baltimore City Fire Department. His favorite hobby was building models of military vehicles (tanks) and naval ships. He would spend hours at a time creating almost lifelike replicas.
Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Monday February 5, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at 12 Noon. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
